Best time to book cheap flights to Pakistan

Month-by-month guide to fares from the UK to Pakistan, when to book for Eid, weddings and summer holidays, and how far ahead to buy.

How far ahead to book

  • For normal travel dates, six to ten weeks ahead is the sweet spot. Earlier than that the airlines have not released their cheapest seats; later than that the cheap fare classes are gone.
  • For Eid, Christmas and the UK summer holidays, book three to four months ahead. Direct PIA and British Airways flights sell out first.

Cheapest months

  • Late January to mid March: the lowest fares of the year, once the winter wedding season and Christmas returns are over.
  • September to November: the second cheapest window, with pleasant weather across Punjab and the north.

Most expensive periods

  • The two weeks before Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, and the week after.
  • Mid July to the end of August, when UK schools are out.
  • The ten days before Christmas. Flying on or after 26 December is usually £100 to £200 cheaper.

Ways to pay less

  • Fly midweek. Tuesday and Wednesday departures are usually the cheapest.
  • Be flexible on the airport. Manchester and Birmingham are often cheaper than Heathrow for one-stop flights; Heathrow wins for direct PIA fares, and Gatwick for direct British Airways flights to Islamabad.
  • Consider a one-stop airline. Turkish Airlines, Gulf Air and Qatar Airways are often £100 or more cheaper than direct flights, and the baggage allowance is the same or better.
  • Ask us. Agency fares are not always advertised, and we can hold seats with a deposit while you decide.
