Cheap Flights from Glasgow and Edinburgh to Pakistan
Flying to Pakistan from Scotland: one-stop airlines from Glasgow and Edinburgh, baggage, journey times and how Manchester compares.
Flying from Scotland
There are no non-stop flights to Pakistan from Glasgow or Edinburgh, so every journey connects once. That works well in practice, as the Gulf and Istanbul hubs are close to Scotland and the flights are frequent. You do not need to travel to England to fly to Pakistan.
Airlines from Glasgow
From Glasgow we quote Qatar Airways through Doha, Emirates through Dubai, Turkish Airlines through Istanbul, Etihad through Abu Dhabi and British Airways. British Airways is one stop from Glasgow, and some of its Pakistan flights are operated by Qatar Airways under a codeshare.
Airlines from Edinburgh
From Edinburgh we quote Qatar Airways, Emirates, Turkish Airlines and British Airways. Edinburgh has slightly fewer options than Glasgow, which is why it is worth asking us to compare both airports if you live between them.
Journey time
Allow around eleven to fourteen hours with one stop. Look for a connection of two to three hours, which gives you a margin if your first flight is late. A very long layover can add hours without saving much money.
Is Manchester worth the trip?
PIA flies non-stop from Manchester to Islamabad and Lahore. From Glasgow or Edinburgh the journey to Manchester is a few hours by road or train, and it only makes sense if the non-stop flight or the fare is much better. For most families in Scotland, a one-stop flight from home is easier and often cheaper once you count the travel. Ask us to price both and we will tell you honestly which is better.
Baggage
Qatar Airways and Turkish Airlines usually allow 40kg in economy. Emirates is typically 30kg to 35kg and British Airways allows two 23kg bags. See the baggage guide for the full list.
Getting to Glasgow and Edinburgh airports
Edinburgh Airport has a tram link from the city centre, which is a simple option if you are travelling with luggage. Glasgow Airport is reached by bus, taxi or car, so allow extra time at busy periods. At both airports, arrive at least three hours before an international departure, and earlier at Eid and in the summer holidays.
Scottish school holidays and fares
Scottish schools break up for the summer earlier than English schools and go back earlier too, so the peak fare period can start sooner than in the rest of the UK. If you are travelling at the start of the holidays, book early. Check your own school's dates, as they vary by council.
Midweek travel, a flexible departure date and booking three to four months ahead for the busy periods are the best ways to keep the price down.
When to book
Scottish school holidays differ slightly from England, so check your dates. Fares are lowest from late January to March and from September to November, and Christmas, Eid and summer sell out early. Book three to four months ahead for those. Request a quote for your dates.
